Car of the Week: Lotus Evora S

Hey Guys

Hope you had a nice Sunday, and still have!
Now another "Car of the Week", this time the Lotus Evora. My model car is the S-version.

Developed as the Project called Eagle, the Evora is the first car of Lotus' plan to expand their line of Cars.

As the further models Elise, Exige and Europa the Evora is also based on the same Lotus Cars vehicle platform, but currently the only model with a 2+2 configuration. Thanks to the larger interior taller persons are able to fit comfortably inside. Thanks to Lotus CEO Mike Kimberely, who is 1.98m (6'5") tall.

The Evora plays the same league like the Porsche Cayman, yeah there's a look-alike for automotive unknown, and the cooled boot behind the engine is large enough to fit a set of golf clubs. It has an Accelaration from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) within 4.9 seconds and a Top Speed of 261 km/h (162 mph). There's only a  6 speed manual transmission available and the EU-Standard fuel consumption is at about 8.69L/100km.

By giving the Project a name Lotus kept their tradition on (every model begins with an 'E') the name is derived from the words evolution, vogue, and aura.Exira was rejected as it was considered not good enough.

In 2009, the British car magazine Autocar named the Evora as Britain's Best Driver's Car. It's the same year the sales started (in summer). In the US they begun in January 2010.

In 2012 there will be a facelifted version launched, with a starting price of £51,030.

ACTIVE BODY CONTROL (ABC)Subfunction of the suspension system MAGIC BODY CONTROL. The Mercedes-Benz ABC suspension has four suspension struts with hydraulic cylinders to set the force individually in each suspension strut, thus all but completely eliminating the lifting, rolling and pitching motion of the vehicle body. Various acceleration sensors send information about the current driving situation to the control unit which, in turn, compares this information with the data received from the pressure sensors in the suspension struts and the level sensors on the axle links. Based on the results of this comparison, the system calculates control signals which are then converted into precisely measured oil flows by servohydraulic values at the front and rear axle.
