Car of the Week: Volkswagen Saveiro

Volkswagen Saveiro / Gol Pick Up

Hey Guys
Today an Car that's not European, although it has an European DNA - the Volkswagen Saveiro. Or Gol Pick-Up. You can compare it with the VW Caddy.

With more than 5,7 million produced units, until 2008, the subcompact Volkswagen Gol is the most sold Car in Brasil since 1987 and since 1998 also in Argentina.

Developed in 1979 and available to buy from 1981 Dipl.-Ing. Phillip Schmidt, formerly Designer of the VW Polo, he wanted to create a mixture of a Golf and Polo, as a successor of the more than successful VW Beetle (VW Käfer).

The Gol is like a jack of all trades when it is about body styles. Since 1980 Volkswagen Brasil produces the Gol as a 3- and 5 door hatchback (this one is also known as VW Pointer), a sedan version (also known as VW Fox, Gacel or Senda), a station wagon called Parati (or Gol Country) as a VW Furgão which is a lightweight panel van and as a lightweight pick up, the Saveiro.

But back to the Saveiro! He's available for $15,000 in Brasil and Argentina, with the variants "Sport Line", "crossocer" and "Super Surf". He has a cabin with two seats and a loading area.

You're asking yourself "Why the eggs?" - more here ;-)
