Vroom.. 182hp and 240Nm torque for the new Ford Fiesta ST

Ford Fiesta ST with the 1.6l EcoBoost engine

Hey Guys

The newest Sporty Version of the Ford Fista, the Fiesta ST, is equipped with a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine to achieve 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds and offer 182PS and 240Nm of torque. Top speed is 137mph - anything else you want to know? ;)

Of course it's also important to mention that the ST emmits just 138g/km CO2 per 100 km (20 percent less than the previous ST-generation, thanks to the new EcoBoost technology) and uses just a little less than 6 liters per 100 km / 47.9 mpg (combined).

For the sporty touch the driver sits in Recaro seats, enjoys unique ST detailing and a Sound Symposer.

What else is new?

Ford Team RS tuned the powertrain, suspension, steering and brakes for optimised driving dynamics; and introduced features only previously found in larger performance cars – including enhanced Torque Vectoring Control (eTVC) and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control (ESC), six-speed manual transmission and rear disc brakes.

The new Fiesta ST features a large trapezoidal grille with a unique honeycomb construction and dramatic rear diffuser element. The refined high-contrast interior is equipped with Recaro seats, and a new Sound Symposer channels the engine note to the cabin to ensure the distinctive engine roar is integral to the driving experience. Ford has also introduced SYNC and MyKey.

“The new Fiesta ST delivers remarkable levels of performance, design and quality to offer an unsurpassed driving experience,” said Juergen Gagstatter, chief programme engineer, Fiesta ST. “Ford’s European customers are connoisseurs of the hot hatchback and the new Fiesta ST speaks directly to that passion for performance driving.”

ACTIVE BODY CONTROL (ABC)Subfunction of the suspension system MAGIC BODY CONTROL. The Mercedes-Benz ABC suspension has four suspension struts with hydraulic cylinders to set the force individually in each suspension strut, thus all but completely eliminating the lifting, rolling and pitching motion of the vehicle body. Various acceleration sensors send information about the current driving situation to the control unit which, in turn, compares this information with the data received from the pressure sensors in the suspension struts and the level sensors on the axle links. Based on the results of this comparison, the system calculates control signals which are then converted into precisely measured oil flows by servohydraulic values at the front and rear axle.
