DMV: Datsun 260 Z

Datsun 260 Z - Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum

Hey Guys

Let's start with a first Car from my visit to the Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum in Munich last week: the Datsun 260 Z.

When you are entering the Museum through the Main Hall the Datsun 260 Z aka Fairlady is one of the first Cars you can see.

The Z-Cars are a series of Sports Cars manufactured by Nissan Motors Ltd.. The Nissan Bluebird / Datsun Bluebird is so the Fairlady's predecessor.

The Datsun 260 Z was once introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1973 (Happy 40th Birthday!) with a bigger 2,6 litre engine (L26). One year later the 260 Z was available as a 2+2 seater and in 1975 even as a 2+2 Deluxe. The Top Speed was at 205 km/h, a damn good bat this time! In the US there were about 80 000 ones sold, in Europe about 1.638 ones. In 2006 there were just about 50 still running Datsun 260 Z in Germany.

Nowadays Z-Cars are built in Tochigi, since 2004. They are, by the way, currently holding the record for 'best selling sports car series' off all time with over 2 million sold ones.
